On flydubai flight FZ1073 on September 30, Mr. Machchhar was attacked by his co-pilot, an Omani citizen, with a crash axe
State police and the country's security agency are looking into the co-pilot, who attempted to take control of a Flydubai plane travelling to Israel.
Smit Machchhar, the Indian captain who was attacked by his co-pilot onboard the Flydubai flight 1073 in an apparent attempt to crash the plane, on Friday told Prime Minister Narendra Modi that although he was severely injured in the altercation, “I could not let all those people die”. Although collapsed, he made a last-ditch effort and managed to push the door to the cockpit open.
Flydubai plane FZ1073, piloted by Smit Machhar and his co-pilot, lost nearly 14,000 feet in less than 30 seconds.
As flight FZ 1073 from Dubai to Tel Aviv approached the Jordanian border on Wednesday, passengers knew in an instant that something was wrong when the plane began plummeting from the sky in a rapid dive.
