Um novo prédio será construído para abrigar os laboratórios e salas destruídas no incêndio que atingiu a Universidade Federal de Pernambuco (UFPE) na noite de quarta-feira (7). Em visita ao campus, o ministro da Educação, Leonardo Barchini, anunciou nesta quinta-feira (8) que a obra terá início assim que for concluída a investigação sobre o incidente e estimou que isso deve ocorrer em 30 dias. Segundo Barchini, o novo prédio seguirá o projeto executivo de outro campus universitário, o de Sertânia, e deve ter o dobro do espaço do edifício incendiado, com cerca de 7 mil metros quadrados. A construção está orçada em R$ 28 milhões. O ministro afirmou ainda que os equipamentos destruídos serão recomprados e que outros ministérios que tinham investimentos no local, como o da Saúde e o dos Transportes, se comprometeram a colaborar. “O levantamento inicial nos mostra que é algo na ordem de R$ 100 milhões em investimento, e faremos todo esse investimento”. Continuidade das pesquisas O ministro da Educação disse que os estudantes que tinham bolsas de pós-graduação ganharão extensão de prazo para concluir suas pesquisas. Pesquisadores em fase final de doutorado também terão acesso a um chamamento especial para doutorado-sanduíche, no exterior, em laboratórios de países que já se comprometeram a apoiar a UFPE. “Esses estudantes não terão prejuízo. Manterão suas bolsas e poderão finalizar suas pesquisas. Os estudantes de mestrado também poderão acionar esse programa ou fazer parte de sua pesquisa em outras universidades brasileiras”. O reitor da UFPE, Alfredo Gomes, informou que há cerca de 200 dissertações e teses em andamento nos locais atingidos pelo fogo. Gomes disse ainda que o material que estava nos laboratórios foi inteiramente destruído pelas chamas e que não há risco de contaminação em áreas próximas, que incluem moradias estudantis da universidade. O reitor acrescentou que a Superintendência da Polícia Federal foi acionada diante de informações de ameaças à universidade. “É um absurdo que uma instituição pública com a tradição que tem a universidade federal seja alvo de ataques nas redes sociais. Repudiamos profundamente essa atitude. Pedimos abertura de investigação em relação às causas do incêndio e também à circulação de ameaças à nossa comunidade estudantil”, disse o reitor Investigações O delegado regional executivo da Polícia Federal, Rodrigo Bastos, relatou que robôs e drones foram utilizados para captar imagens da área atingida pelo incêndio, para que peritos já possam iniciar os trabalhos enquanto ainda não é possível entrar no local. “Estamos aguardando uma definição em relação à segurança do prédio para saber se os peritos podem entrar”, explicou. Bastos afirmou que peritos do Instituto Nacional de Criminalística especializados nesse tipo de trabalho e com equipamentos próprios para o caso chegarão a Pernambuco para reforçar as investigações. “São duas frentes: tentar identificar o que deu início ao fogo e tentar reconstituir a dinâmica dos fatos nos momentos que antecederam esses eventos”. disse o delegado. A Polícia Federal já começou a realizar oitivas que possam ajudar a esclarecer esse segundo ponto e deve continuar a colher depoimentos nos próximos dias.
